The opening night of the Abduction from the Seraglio has been a triumph for Myrto Papatanasiu and Mario Zeffiri. Two international Greek singers, together on stage for the new production of Die Entführung at the Thessaloniki Concert Hall under the stage direction of Stephen Medcalf and with sets/costumes by Isabella Bywater.

Kudos to the rest of the cast for a fine performance and especially to Vassiliki Karayanni for her Blonde. UK readers and Villazon fans will have the chance to watch Vassiliki as Olympia in the upcoming Contes d' Hofmann at the ROH.
