Renée in Český Krumlov

The Beautiful Voice sang last night at the 18th International Music Festival of Český Krumlov.

In the Brewery Gardens of the Český Krumlov Castle, Renée Fleming -in a Vivienne Westwood gown - revisited after many many years the role of Armida and her trademark aria "D' amore al dolce impero" - role she will sing at the MET in 2010-, sang her famous Rusalka, amazed once again with her Desdemona, showed her witty side with "I could have danced all night", sang two folk songs (The water is wide & Shenandoah) and said goodbye with Strauss' Cäcilie and Schicchi's Lauretta.

As Renée herself revealed during a post-performance interview, she will be back in the Czech Republic on November 14 2009, to sing at the commemoration of The Velvet Revolution, invited by Václav Havel.

Listen to Renée Fleming in

D' amore al dolce impero - Armida

Měsíčku na nebi hlubokém
- Rusalka

I could have danced all night - My Fair Lady

and the two unusual folk songs - requested by Václav Havel

The water is wide - Shanandoah
(performed as one)
