On the 5th of March 2005, Marina Poplavskaya won the Grand Prix Maria Callas in Athens.President of the Jury was Luigi Alva and members were: Inge Borkh, Joan Sutherland, Francesco Ernani, P.M. Katona, Marina Krilovici,
J. Nesterenko, Kostas Paskalis, Jeanette Pilou, Sergio Segalini, Cheryl Studer.
A few months later the young soprano would join the Jette Parker Young Artist Programme at the Royal Opera House and from there in just a couple of years would follow the Met, the Liceu, La Monnaie, LA Opera, the Netherlands Opera and of course the Royal Opera House.
Pops is back at the ROH and in just a few weeks (Sept 15) will repeat last year's production of Don Carlo, this time with Jonas instead of Rolando.
