José Carreras gave last night his first of the two recitals scheduled to be given in Greece during September.
The open-air Yis Theatre of Thessaloniki was full of people eager to see/hear the catalan tenor and our Josep did not let them down with his selection of zarzuelas, arias and songs.
Next to him, spanish soprano Sabina Puertolas, while the Thessaloniki Symphony State Orchestra was directed by David Gimenez.
Next stop: Athens, where Carreras will sing on the 19th of September, at the Odeon of Herodes Atticus (where he had last sung in 2005 with Sumi Jo next to him).
Parsi 's definitely not planning to be there. He would rather stay with the memory of the last time he saw el Josep on stage, as Sly in Wolf-Ferrari's opera (Liceu, 2000).
