The Athens Megaron, Season 2007-8

The 2007-8 program of the Athens Megaron has been announced and it looks quite interesting. 2 opera productions only (officialy), no opera recitals though. The hot spots of this season will -in brief- be:

-A new production of Zemlinsky's "The Dwarf-Der Zwerg" together with Schoenberg's "Erwartung". No further details up to now, only that Erwartung will be "sung" by Inga Nielsen.

-Next on the menu, and as you first read on this blog, we will have the honour of hosting the Jean-Pierre Ponnelle production of L'Italiana in Algeri. Isabella will be sung by (the eternal) Agnes Baltsa.

-Some great Orchestras as the L.S.O. , the WDR Simfonieorchester Koeln, the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic, The Salzburg Camerata, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France etc etc.

- The recitals of great soloists such as Alfred Brendel, Oleg Maisenberg, Stephen Kovacevich etc.
