Special service:
They call him "The Botox-injection" of opera.
An interview in which the singer says nothing and yet indicates everything.
Photo subtitles
1.Did you ever forget the text on stage and sang fancy italian words instead?
2.Who applauds more fierce in your performances - homosexuals or 60-year-old ladies in evening gowns?
3.What would the world be without Wagner?
4.What would be the best to do after a four-hour performance?
5.What goes through your mind when you see a sleeping man in the audience?
6.Which operatic gesture should definitely get banned?
7.And which one should finally be introduced?

Maybe I am. But these are translations of the original German text from the article.

I DON'T LIKE THE TENORS WITHOUT VOICE.
I DON'T NEED A FASHION MODEL IN CARMEN.
I NEED A VERO DON JOSE.

Don't watch what you don't like...plenty others out there and if you don't like what you see you always have the choice of going home.

Venus,

If you need a vero Don José, then you should be very happy with Jonas Kaufmann. He's got a beautiful voice.

I saw his Don Jose in Zurich several times, his Tamino and Alfredo many times at the Met and find him stunning as a singer and aways an exciting performer. A beautiful timbre with the capability of many colors and amazing control. He is truly unique among the tenors singing today for his ability and willingness to take the risk to create believable characters and project his concept of each role. Because of this he never fails to surprise. In my opinion he is doing something entirely new which I do not see other tenors doing ie, he provides a kind closeup of each role he undertakes drawn with all kinds of vocal and dramatic nuances. And whenever I have seen him perform he has gotten overwhelming applause from the audience so I must conclude he is succeeding.
