The Master is back.

Mein henz brennt - My heart is on fire- is a symphonic song cycle based on songs by Rammstein but it's also the title of this 45' long documentary about René Pape in which we see him in the roles of Figaro, Boris, Hans Zachs, Sarastro and Gurnemanz while we ´re being guided through René's world. René smoking, taking walks in NY or Dresden, meeting his rocker friends and playing music together etc.etc.

Now, you know what you have to do.

Watch the videos and then kneel. Again.

René as Figaro, René backstage, smoking.

René as Boris (tremendous!!!), René in New York

René as
Hans Zachs Pogner together with Karita Mattila, René in Dresden, René rocking, René wearing a shirt that he obviously stole from Rolando Villazón´s closet.

René as Sarastro. René's house. The Rammstein song.

René as Gurnemanz. Only. Parsifal is da best and deserves a video on it´s own.

René in Dresden, singing Agnus Dei in Missa Solemnis. The video ends with a song sung in english by René.

Well, just WOW. I've seen a lot of the footage elsewhere but the new pieces blew me away. And I thought I was a fanatic :~). Thank you so very much.

Well Parsifal, when you write comments like that about Granada you ask for this: René Pape has never sung Hans Sachs on stage and appears as Veit Pogner in the Meistersinger clips with Karita Mattila here :)

Well, I never claimed to know anything about Wagner! Heheheheh.... OK, it was James Morris who sang Hans in this production, no? Ok, let me fix that.

PS. It's still written Grenada, isn't it?? Hehehe...

Dear Parcifal
I saw that you are all anxious for Rolando Villazon in Greece. Do not worry, he will come in Megaron, October 29th, and tickets prices are
180 €,
90 €
65 €
40 €
Student 20 €

As you are a real opera lover, you will soon know the name of the Soprano.
Ciao

Thanks for the info Anonymous. The 65 euro tickets will go first...hehehe.

The name of the soprano? What soprano???? Oooh c'mon! I 'll have to check the schedule of all sopranos that sing with Rolando??? hmmmm....La Netrebka is a mother and she can;t, la Ciofi is definitely not, Natalie Dessay will be in Chicago singing Manon (even if on the 29th she doesnt have to sing...). Mmmm....can you please please please tell me or I'll have to start making calls?????

You Parcifal will know the soprano immediately before others, as soon as it is for sure..

As regards the prices, the 65 is what you said, the first three raws (not only). Go to the general Megaron pages and see the zones. 65corresponds to zone B.
And la Scala tickets are cheaper for recitals, because they have huge help from the State, and some private. In Greece cost for such concert is enormeous, and very few helps.

Sale will start 21 days before the concert!

Thanks my Anonymous Fairy. I will go for the first raws of the orchestra too...And I would appreciate an updating when everything is arranged. (Or an interview of Rolando exclusively... hehehe).

Some years ago I remember Ernesto Palacio saying that Juan Diego Florez's cachet for Recitals was about 15000 euros...Well the last few months I found out that he received 110.000 for some recital (while it is said that Kiri Te Kanawa received 150k for last night;s recital in Thessaloniki(!!!))

They all always receive much much more for a recital than for a full opera... so they all love doing recitals.

He will be accompanied by the ERT National Symphonic Orchestra, with Mo Andreas Pylarinos, the same who accompanied him in New York, where he sung poetry in Greek, October 2006

You will be properly updated, for the press conference also, place, moment etc.

A real Opera lover, has to be happy... they are so few...

I have also uploaded a recording of the recital and in due course (planned for some days before the Athens Concert) I will upload also the VIDEO of the United Nations Concert @ NY...

Thanks,

I was in the New York concert, he is phenomenal, he sung in Greek better than a Greek, and his Granada..... majestuous!!

Why do we keep writing under a Rene Pape post??? hehehe...

Anonymous said...

Because I do not know how to write in another way! I'm not used to blogs at all. I just found your blog last year when you were at the Placido Domingo rehearsal in Kallimarmaron, and since then i visit your blog, but I'm not a blogger!
I ended up under the Rene Pape because it was some reference to Rolando, but no idea how to get elsewhere! Sorry
