the costumes look really dreadful for my impeccable taste.
To much "realism"...

Well yes both comments do say the same thing more or less.

You see I am bored of watching realistic AIDA productions like there is no other way to it. The music is powerful enough to captivate the audience even the ones who have no clue about opera, so I see no reason at all for trying to catch their attention by producing a staging of Ancient Egypt.

I am not saying I would like to see AIDA with dildos or in space but I could really do with less realism. In my taste it’s boring maybe even kits and may I add pointless because It’s the music and voices that counts most. And sometimes all that stage and costume realism might “get in the way” of really listening and understanding the opera.

I don’t want to say more I am guessing you got the point and the meaning of my first comment. It was may way of telling how pointless are these costumes.

Αν η ΗΠΑ είχαν βομβαρδίσει την Ιαπωνία με αυτή την παράσταση Αΐντα, όχι μόνο θα είχε λήξει ο Δεύτερος Παγκόσμιος, θα είχε πέσει και η ΕΣΣΔ από τότε...
