Cosmin Ifrim was born in Arad and trained at the Gheorghe Dima Music Academy, Klausenburg. He won the Grand Prix at the Traian Grozvescu Tenor Competition in Lugoy, Romania and later participated in the 2003 Cardiff Singer of the World Competition (a very interesting year indeed).
In 2000 he was engaged by the Vienna State Opera where he stayed for more than 8 years, singing among others Lord Cecil, Rinuccio, the Italian Singer, Fenton etc.
His very last performances include Tonio (La fille du regiment) in Bilbao and Klosterneuburg and Duca in St. Margarethen.
He first sang the part of Gualtiero in 2007 in St. Moritz and in this most demanding role he will debut in 2010 in Athens, next to the Imogene of Dimitra Theodossiou (and the Ernesto of a great greek baritone) in Bellini's Il Pirata .
