Parsifal Domingo/Baltsa/Grundheber/Salminen Madrid 2001

Parsifal Domingo/Baltsa/Grundheber/Salminen Madrid 2001

HAAAAAAPPY BIRTHDAY AGNES!
Agnes Baltsa turns 62 today (19th of November 1944 in the greek island of Lefkas) and this one, is her debut as Kundry in Madrid in 2001. Kundry is not really her role but i always enjoy her, singing new stuff. I ve been desperately looking for one of her Klytemnestra but havent located any till today...anybody that has an Elektra with Agnes and is willing to share????
ps. This is a complete recording of the premiere, not the abridged versions of the on-line stores.
Very good in-house recording

Don Carlo, Baltsa, Ramey, Ricciarelli, O Neil

Here s an in-house Carlo from the ROH of Covent Garden. 10 years after the 1979 Eboli, Baltsa's resources for this role are less but the intensity and drama are amazing, so is the singing. This is one of Agnes' last Ebolis.

Next to Agnes, an excellent Samuel Ramey (well, i always find him excellent actually), a rather dull Dennis O Neil and Katia Ricciarelli past her prime but still quite good.

In-house recording. Sound variable. For an in-house its good. Some bars of music missing, especially at the beggining of the acts/scenes (not always). 5 Acts version

Italiana in Algeri Baltsa-Lopardo-Raimondi Claudio Abbado

A few days before my beloved Agnes' birthday (on November the 19th she turns 62!) i begin this personal Agnes Baltsa Festival! I m gonna be uploading a rare or less rare Baltsa recording everyday till the 19th! Today, it is my all time favourite Italiana in Algeri. A most amazing performance, and i mean it, sooooo much energy, so humorous, so sexy! Its the radio broadcast of the original Jean Pierre Ponnelle performance and its a looooot better than the Deutsche Grammophon recording.
Here s the cast:

Isabella - Agnes Baltsa
Lindoro: Frank Lopardo
Mustafa: Ruggiero Raimondi
Taddeo: Enzo Dara
Elvira: Patricia Pace

Claudio Abbado
Vienna 28 September 1987

Il Trovatore Baltsa/Studer

This is a performance that someone should own mainly for two reasons: The very rare and absolutely haunting performance of Baltsa as Azzucena (i think it was the only Azuccena she ever sang, or one of the very few) is the first reason. The second, is the incredible reception of the public towards Friedrich Kalt and Cheryl Studer! You wont believe your ears....the Booing is so loud for both especially after the Pira and D'amor sull ali rosee. And of course the public is divided into booers and fans who wont stop argue after Studer's rendition of the aria...I wouldnt
like to be in her position....Well the fact is that she doesnt sing well but its not THAT bad...(as i read in a magazine lately, the reaction of the public was actually due to the production of the
opera. In a bombed Sarajevo-like stage the singers wearing very ugly clothes- Baltsa agreed to wear the clothes but didnt accept to have not even one foto taken...)

Here is the cast:

Requiem - Mozart - Karajan - TomowaSintow, Baltsa, Krenn, Van Dam

hi all!
this is one of the famous Requiem that this, selected by the great Herbert group of singers, sang in New York in 1976. All these amazing singers that Karajan was obsessed with and wouldnt replace easily. (In his words: "Toscanini never had access to a voice like hers - she can hit C sharp at nine o'clock in the morning."-for Anna Tomowa-Sintow) These performances have never been broadcast and they re quite rare.
