Strange things happen at the Greek National Opera.
Elena Mosuc withdraws from her recital :( and the casts change with light speed.
Olga Mykytenko who was at first announced to sing the role of Elvira at the new production of I Puritani will not sing and her place is taken by cuban soprano Eglise Gutierrez (a superb soprano- watch her Gilda and Lakmé). Rising star and Funkhouser child, Bryan Hymel will be her Arturo.
Also Natalia Ushakova is announced for the role of Rusalka in the new co-production with the Opera de Nice.
Still the most expected of all performances seems to be the Graham Vick Tannhäuser -the SFO production- that will bring in Athens John Treleaven as Tannhäuser, Ángela Marambio as Elisabeth and Lise Lindstrom as Venus.
ps. Today, newspaper TO VIMA, reproduces parsifal's excl. info that Nino Machaidze might (as the paper says) accompany Rolando- 9 days after parsifal's. I suppose that the journalist found this piece of information on her own and after days of research...
